An Overview of Access Arrangements (EAAO)

40 minutes (online) - £40

Have you ever wished that subject tutors, teachers and senior managers knew enough about Access Arrangements to fully support the Access Arrangements process in your centre?

In this 40 minute course Caroline Read gives a brief overview of Access Arrangements, including outlining the rationale for Access Arrangements for General Qualifications (GCSE, GCE, FS etc), showing the arrangements which are available to students and outlining the responsibility to implement arrangements in lessons. The course is suitable for tutors, subject teachers, managers and support assistants - it would be ideal for a staff training day.

This course offers an overview of:

  • The rationale for Access Arrangements for General Qualifications (GCSE, GCE, FS etc.)
  • The arrangements that are available
  • The evidence required to before an arrangement can be granted
  • How subject teachers and support staff can work with the SENCo/Head of Learning Support to implement arrangements

The course tutor is Caroline Read.

This online course is designed to be administered in one of two ways.

  1. Ideally a group of subject teachers, support assistants and leaders will be able to access the course together at the same time. For this we recommend that you use a digital projector and large screen with speakers to amplify the presentation.
  2. If one or two staff members are unable to make the group session, the centre administrator (i.e. the person who was sent the login details, password etc) can arrange for individual staff members to access the course on a PC with headphones. Please note that due to the login requirements it is only possible for one person to be accessing the course at one time using this method.

You will have 10 days from the start date you choose to login and view the course – you can run the course as many times as you want within this 10 day period, and there is not a maximum number of delegates for the total course fee of £55. All delegates must all be from your school or college, you can’t use the course to train staff from other centres. We do not provide individual certificates for delegates attending this course, but on request we can provide a certificate confirming that the centre accessed the training (for JCQ inspection purposes). You may wish to add the name of each delegate who attended the course to this certificate so that they have a personalised copy for their CPD file.

For nearly two decades we have been running courses across the country, aiming to provide high quality, value for money training for education professionals working in the area of special needs. Many of our delegates are telling us that it is increasingly difficult for busy professionals to take the opportunity to attend courses ‘off-site’. In response to this, we now offer a number of online training courses, focusing on Examination Access Arrangements, Assessment, and Supporting SEN Students.

With the internet now so accessible, the advantages of online courses are clear:

  • They can be accessed at the delegate’s convenience, in the workplace or home
  • Delegates don’t need to travel, saving time and transport costs
  • Running costs are lower, allowing us to pass savings on to our delegates

Courses can be viewed at any time, and in any venue where there is a good internet reception.

As standard, you will have 10 days (or for some courses 20 days) from the start date you choose, to login and view the course. You can run the course as many times as you want to within this 10/20 day period. We also run special offers for some courses which give unlimited access to courses to the end of an academic year.

N.B. Delegates will need a good broadband connection to access our online courses.
